The official website for the anime film series inspired by Japanese stationery company San-X's popular mascot character brand, Sumikko Gurashi , today released a teaser trailer and visual for the upcoming fourth installment, entitled Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Sora no Okoku to Futari no Ko ("Sumikko Gurashi The Movie: The Sky Kingdom and Two Children"). The tagline on the teaser visual reads: "The adventure has fallen." The trailer and visual also revealed that the fourth film is set to release in Japan on October 31, 2025. It will have been two years since the release of the third film in November 2023. Eiga Sumikko Gurashi Sor no Oukoku to Futari no Ko Teaser Trailer Teaser Visual The first installment of the Sumikko Gurashi film series, The Pop-up Book and the Secret Child released in Japan on November 8, 2019. And the second film A Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night followed on November 5, 2021, and the third film The Mysterious Child of the Patchwork Factory on November 3, 2023. The total attendance for the series as a whole has exceeded three million. The fourth film is produced by Fanworks, which has worked on all of the TV anime series and previous films, directed by Naomi Iwata on a screenplay by Takashi Sumita (Europe Kikaku). Inohara Yoshihiko and Manani Honjo serve as the narrator. The synopsis reads (translated): It has been raining in Sumikko's town for a while now. The rain has been making the fried duo Tonkatsu and Ebifurai no Shippo damp. One day, something suddenly fell from the sky! "Are you okay?" Sumikkos ran to it and found that it was an “Ouji” from the Sky Kingdom. There is a severe water shortage above the clouds. Sumikkos' adventures in the sky are about to begin in order to save the kingdom from a crisis!
