New Cyborg 009 Nemesis Anime Production Announced
The official website for Ishinomori Production announced today that Cyborg 009 Nemesis , a new anime based on Shotaro Ishinomori's best-known manga work Cyborg 009 , is now in production. Ishinomori's original Cyborg 009 manga began serialization in Shonen Gahosha's Weekly King magazine on July 19, 1964, which marks today as its 61st anniversary. Ishinomori Production's official X (formerly Twitter) wrote , "Today, July 19, is 'Cyborg 009 Day.' After the work's 60th anniversary year, the cyborg soldiers will take another step forward. For more details, please wait for future announcements." As Ishinomori's life's work, the serialization of Cyborg 009 continued intermittently in various magazines until he passed away in 1988. Multiple anime movies and TV series iterations based on the manga have been released and broadcast from 1966 to 2017. Discotek Media previously released the latest 2001-2002 TV anime series Cyborg 009: The Cyborg Soldier on Blu-ray in English, and describes the anime as such: Joe Shimamura never quite fit in. An orphan with a troubled past, he awakens to find himself imprisoned and changed forever, the unwitting recipient of a new cyborg body, both strong and inhumanly fast. Before he can learn his captors’ evil plans, Joe is rescued by a team of eight outcasts from around the world, outcasts just like him, with formidable cyborg bodies. With nothing to lose, Joe becomes the ninth member of the renegade cyborg group: he is Cyborg 009! Now, the cyborgs are ready to defend the world against Black Ghost, the ruthless international arms syndicate that created them! Source: Ishinomori Production official website / X (formerly Twitter)
