The story of Lord of Mysteries , which takes place in a Victorian era-esque world where humans can gain supernatural abilities and become Beyonders, combines dark fantasy with steampunk elements and even a hearty dose of horror. After the death of university student Klein Moretti in Tingen City of the Loen Kingdom, Zhou Mingrui finds that his consciousness has been transmigrated into Klein’s body. As if waking up in a new body, in a new parallel universe, isn’t enough, Zhou aka Klein must now deal with Klein’s scattered memories, the prophecy described in an “ancient” notebook, and how all of that correlates with his past life. It also looks like he’s being followed by various shadowy people, which is never a good sign. Was all of this by chance? Or was it destiny? All the tarot cards reveal is that it’s a new beginning for Zhou and Klein. One thing is for certain, though—Zhou wants to get back to his own world. Chanting for “The Celestial Worthy,” he tries to undergo the same ritual that brought him to this new reality. All it winds up doing is sending him into a Divine Realm between worlds, where he takes on the guise of a sort of god named “The Fool" after his tarot card reading. There, by making connections with others who name themselves after tarot cards in the new Tarot Club and becoming a stronger Beyonder, he hopes to find the thing that will send him home. Why are tarot cards so important in Lord of Mysteries ? Like in the real world, tarot cards are used for a kind of divination in Lord of Mysteries . A deck of them can reveal secrets about your past, details about your present and clues about your future. This can be helpful for someone like Zhou/Klein who needs assistance in figuring out all three of those things. But more than that, they can be used to symbolize a person’s character or aspirations, and the members of the Tarot Club take them on as a reflection of themselves, their desires or something hidden within. What is a Beyonder? In Lord of Mysteries , Beyonders are powerful beings that advance through a Pathway by achieving certain Sequences. Usually, one makes progress in this by drinking various potions, but there are other methods as well. The potions aren’t foolproof; they can be extremely dangerous for an individual as well, and if one lacks the strength to handle them, they might spell doom for the wannabe Beyonder. Also hazardous are the various churches and organizations that seek to keep the Beyonders' secrets from the general public. Whether it’s for the good of the people or for more nefarious reasons will become clear as the series goes on. Who created Lord of Mysteries ? The author of Lord of Mysteries is Cuttlefish The Loves Diving, but the series is far from the creator’s first story, and other titles that he’s written include Throne of Magical Arcana and Martial Arts Master . Through it all, he’s become well-known for his extensive interactions with fans, often commenting on their theories and answering their deep dive questions. Lord of Mysteries was created on the Chinese site Qidian, which ran it as a serialized story beginning in 2018. Soon after, it began a print run (which  you can read through Yen Press in the United States ). On Qidian and as a print series, it’s become immensely popular—by 2020, Lord of Mysteries had already amassed a readership of millions. Where can I watch Lord of Mysteries ?
