The official website and accounts for the upcoming The Drops of God TV anime launched today, and announced the series will premiere in 2026. A teaser visual was also released alongside the announcement. The initial voice cast for the anime was also announced, with Kazuya Kamenashi reprising his role from the TV drama adaptation of Shizuku Kanzaki. Maaya Uchida (Angel Devil in Chainsaw Man ) will also play the role of Miyabi Shinohara, alongside Takuya Sato (Caesar Zeppeli in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure ) voicing Issei Tomine. Kenji Itoso ( AQUARION Myth of Emotions ) will direct the TV anime at sudio Satelight, alongside series composition and script writer Yuu Mitsuru, character designer Takehiro Suwa and Eishi Segawa on music. The original The Drops of God manga by written by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shu Okimoto ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Morning from 2004 to 2014 for a total of 44 volumes. The sequel manga, titled Drops of God: Mirage , also ran in Weekly Morning from 2015 to 2020 for 26 volumes. The latest manga series, titled Drops of God deuxième , ran in Weekly Morning from September 2023 to April 2024 for two volumes. Multiple live-action series have also been made for the series, including a 2008 Korean drama, the 2009 Japanese drama in which Kamenashi starred, and a 2023 drama that debuted on Apple TV+. Kodansha USA releases an English-language version of the manga series and describes the story: Yutaka Kanzaki, a wine critic whose reviews have enough clout to move the industry worldwide, has died—leaving behind a wine collection worth over two billion yen. Only the one who can name his favorite bottles, plus vintages, will inherit this dream of a cellar.
