Voice Actor Yuki Kaneko to Release First Novel "Hikaru Nekotsume" in Spring 2026

Voice actor Yuki Kaneko will release her first novel titled Hikaru Nekotsume ("Glowing Cat Nails") from Japanese publisher GOT in spring 2026. Hikaru Nekotsume is a novel written by Kaneko, best known for her portrayals of Midori Tokiwa in Tamako Market and Aiko Takamori in The iDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS , as part of her creative work. The novel began serialization on the Japanese novel self-publishing website NeoPage this fall. In response to positive reception, GOT offered to publish the work as a book. It is not uncommon for Japanese voice actors to commercially publish novels they have written themselves, rather than essays or photo collections. In the past, works written by Shiina Natsukawa, Yumiri Hanamori (co-written with Saginomiya Misaki) and Haruna Ikezawa have been published in Japan. Kaneko posted a message on her official X (formerly Twitter) : "My novel... is getting published as a book~! ↓I was saying things like that...But it actually happened!! The protagonist, Suzune Kokura, takes on various requests as "Nandemoya Neko no Tsume" (Convenience Agency: Cat Nails), interacting with strange yet kind people. What is the "other purpose" hidden in her heart? This is a slightly mysterious, somewhat poignant story about how "something special dwells in everyone's heart." This work opens up a new world of expression by having Yuki Kaneko depict in writing the emotions she has conveyed through her voice as a voice actor.
